The best way to respond to gaslighting is usually to not respond. But if you have to respond, just acknowledge what they’re saying and leave it at that. You don’t have to believe it or absorb it into a part of yourself, just because they need your validation. We must stop walking on eggshells just to make insecure, selfish people feel comfortable.

You’re a leech…
After the end of a relationship, I found no contact is the best strategy for gaslighting.
💯🎉
No response IS a response.
Dr Ramani is absolutely correct. Its like conversations I’ve had with my narcissistic sister. Verbatim. Scarily on point.
Thank you for the information and the validation.
“They will never know the why.” This is the truth, the lack of reflection is really at the core of the whole issue.
Oh my gosh exactly! How do we say your BUSTED ( quietly)
@SherryTomlinson-r2y💯 Smile in your heart ❤️ Keep it between you and God. 🙏😊
The time waster, if I let them. ☺️
Thank you, for the recap Doctor Ramani 🙂🙏🕊️
“That doesn’t work with me” or “I know what you’re trying to do”.
Yes,”you hit the nail on the head !” again ty
it took me 10 years to get to this point
When someone tries to gaslight me, I almost find it funny
In fact, it is funny to me
And it’s almost enjoyable to just silently smirk at them
Yesss, I’m getting there. It flips the script.
@OxyRay-1💯
Yes, I’m at that point too where I don’t internalize it or emotionally react. Instead, I let them unfold their narrative and view them as “an interesting psychological specimen”. 😊
People, even Family have Gaslighted me to my face, looked me in the eye and I gave looked at them and said nothing and walked away, saying to myself “Know your truth”. The hardest thing has been that moment where you’re itching to defend yourself knowing they’ll argue. So as I walk away I’ve taken a deep breath to enable my nervous system to calm down until that need to defend myself has displayed. It does take practice. 🍒
Thank you 🎉 This will be my response from now on 🎉
It’s all a part of trying to making you confused and keep you on edge!!
We don’t have to explain anything to them!!
💯🎉
It is one of the cruelest methods of abuse for a parent to make their child doubt their own reality and feelings. It follows you throughout your life and affects all of your interactions. I heard a brain surgeon say the other day that your brain cannot tell time so when you rehash (ruminate) your brain thinks that the incident just happened. It finally made sense to me. I will ruminate about or replay conversations I had days, weeks, months or even years ago in an effort to understand. The cumulative effect is that I feel even crazier than when these things happened because there is no way I can resolve them.
Wow!! 💯🎉
😁💪
You’re a true HERO for SO MANY of us.
BAM, Lady!
💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
If anyone ever tells me I’m being sensitive, I’ll respond with “I’m being observant, does that make you uncomfortable?”
Yes 🎉
Perfectly put. Their ‘why’ is as simple as a power play.
Trying to understand their abusive behavior is easy to understand once you realize how simplistic it really is.
“ She is just a friend!” — “She’s like a sister/daughter to me”
“They made us carpool, that’s why I have to go to her apartment to pick her up, instead of making her meet me at the curb.” (at 4:30 in the morning)
Gaslighters are like a rubber wall—it’s impossible to confront them. They’re experts at doing this every day. Yes—it’s true that the excuse “I’m a working person” is the worst kind of hypocrisy.
A possible response… first of all, cold silence, and perhaps:
“And this is what your job does to you? You’d be better off not working and just staying put, doing no harm, doing nothing.”
Not only do you spend hours sorting out the chaos, wasting time, you lose the opportunity for healthy and productive relationships. It’s a double whammy that we don’t even realize is happening.
Gaslighting is when somebody pisses on your back, and tells you it is raining….
and then tells you that you are crazy for noticing the difference!
