How to Master Radical Acceptance in a Narcissistic Relationship

You know the narcissist isn't going to change. So why is it still so hard to let go? Radical acceptance may be one of the most powerful tools for healing from a narcissistic relationship, but it's also one of the most misunderstood. In this workshop from The Healing Program vault, Dr. Ramani breaks down what radical acceptance really means, why it can feel so impossible, and how to begin using it to finally move forward.

Letting go. My new mood 2026 😅
Thanks for making these vids Dr 🎉

  • @zmesopotamia6792 says:

You should reach the stage where you never wait for them to change nor change yourself for them.

  • @beths9006 says:

For me, practicing radical acceptance is the most difficult part of this process.. albeit very rewarding!

    • @pathogenesis-6.10.21 says:

I didn’t struggle with radical acceptance as much as some do. I think it was because I could just cut off family. I did not have to co-parent with an adult toddler.
There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think of the co-parent.
I watched a parent and grandparent try and co-parent. 💙

My favorite Dr. Ramani quote, “ it sucks to leave, it sucks to stay, it sucks to withdraw, it sucks to engage…”. Being in relationship with a narcissist just plain sucks! I, however, am managing..she knows that I know…I don’t let her gaslight me, but her tried and true response to me shutting down the gaslighting is blame shifting and that one is harder to defeat!

      My favorite Dr. R quote:
“The narcissist spits the pacifier out of their mouth and has their tantrum.” 😂

  • @lindaC1439 says:

    TY Dr. Ramani!✌️

  • @marysisak2359 says:

Once you see it you cannot unsee it, even in other’s situations. Someone told me how well her granddaughter is doing with her new “boyfriend” and I walked away knowing this situation was going to end just like all the others in this disfunctional family.

This video is incredibly helpful, disturbing & funny and all encompassing. My favorite self discovery was feeling devastated when the student in me recalled this is what Dr Ramini taught us? Not understanding that they cannot change became an experience of realization when I said This is what being in the lions cage means.

  • @gracetaylor5341 says:

Yes! Thanks Dr Ramani 🙏🏻 💚

  • @soniagiangiacomo1762 says:

    Thank you, dr Ramani.
Your video is helping so much.
Min 23:12″ we are attempting to create a you without a them”
Min 19:40 “it is the radical acceptance that pain’s never going to go away”.

  • @KKKkiri says:

what really helped me was prediction in my own mind…if I say this, they’d automatically claim the opposite, adding a dismissive remark and walk out the door to show me their dominance and power and control. So that protected me and I never took the bait again and sticked to my own support system -)

    Thank You Lady ❤

Thank you Dr Ramani, what I’m going through right now. Very painful, strong narcissism I’m dealing with now ( so dark) put my hand in tigers cage possibly. Watch the situations the patterns , they don’t change in their loyalty to the narcissist. Same deal.. yes separation of self from others. I get seems easily sucked in and lose me. Feel like I have to explain.. no more explaining.. A lifetime of this muck.. number one objective here is to separate myself.. got to work on it I’m falling back in depression.. BUT .. one joyful moment one laugh, even forgotten that. I know better than that.. it’s just so dark.. you know.. How easily it is ti get sucked back in again. Always Hope though with a bit of hard work . I’ve survived a hell of a lot worse.

Once I realized he was not going to change, I changed my behavior. Had to out of self preservation. About 5 months before he died he hugged me (rare) and asked why I was no longer as affectionate. I don’t remember what I said but in my head I was thinking “you pushed me away so many times I finally stopped.” And, once I changed there was no going back. I did my best to be what I/he needed until he died. Why? Because that is who I am. Wasn’t going to punish him and I’m not spiteful.

Thank you Dr. Ramani! I had to start a new google account to watch your videos because my husband was looking at my watch history and confronted me with your videos. I was able to dodge the bullet but I’m being a lot more careful.

Dr R your wisdom is amazing. The bloody painful truth. So healing yet so painful. This is what the real work looks like. I can promise ya’ all the narrississic can’t do the work like you can. Thats why they Don’t Change, won’t Change, don’t want to change, and don’t care to change.

  • @SziPuck says:

    Thank you, Dr. Ramani. 💜

  • @Atifqamar-l1g says:

The result from Anwen Reid’s anxiety quiz didn’t tell me anything dramatic, but it did organize a few things in a way that made more sense. Sometimes seeing several habits described together is more useful than hearing separate pieces of generic advice.

I’m the scapegoat that left. Just dropping in to share cause I know Dr. Ramani loves when people leave they abusers. As she always say “maybe we don’t forgive”
