Colors to wear if going on a date, business meeting, appear more approachable or trusting. I have tried this and I knew it worked BUT, I underestimated its effect BIG TIME!

In here I will wear the same shirt and just change the color via the editing process (shown at the end). Watch how you see me just by changing the color. A highly visual video because you can see how light gray to dark gray changes my appearance in an instance. This is an interactive video where I have a small social experiment at the end. Watch and have fun with it. Does do shirt look tighter, how's the fit, do you see my personality differences with changing color? Comment

For some reason, when people see me, they always associate my channel with what I wore in my first episode; my red shirt. They don’t ask me about resistance bands, dating, covid19 or my beautiful vests. It’s amazing that the episode that has a meager 1.6% of my total views is the same episode where I’m associated with a particular color. It’s always “hey, where’s your red shirt”? While I wore red purposely, it’s safe to say that I underestimated it’s appeal. But how about other colors? How DO people perceive you when wearing black, gray, green, pink, white and of course red.

Black, ladies and gentlemen is a power color. When you’re wearing black others will see you as ambitious, purposeful, powerful, serious and intelligent. It says “hey, I’m in control here” and it commands respect. It is a prestige color that shows people are both simple and yet complex.

Something to keep in mind is black is also known to have a trimming effect. For example, take a loot at these pictures. Same person different body? But be careful about this because it may backfire and make you look older than what you are. How about blue?

According to research women say wearing navy blue is one of the most attractive colors a man can wear. Think of our Navy men wearing Navy blue and what comes out? It states confidence and reliability. It’s intelligent, trust, tranquil and efficient. Wearing blue says that you think for yourself. The darker it is, the more calming its effects are. It says man person is a professional. Interviewing for a leadership position? Wear navy blue.

When wearing gray 1 word comes to mind,,,,, “Team Player” (Look Confused). Stylists like to say that gray is the color of balance. Similar to blue, Gray shows professionalism but at a tamed level. The darker it is the more professional you look. Contrary to blue however the lighter the gray the more calming its effects are and the more it says you’re a team player. You want to blend in? Wear gray. Interviewing for a job? Wear Dark Gray.

Wow. Great video, very informative. I actually did not notice the buttons. I noticed the brown and white looked more casual so the lower buttons blended with the color. Thank you for educating me. 😉

    • @Mensdivorcecoach says:

Thank you Nancy. What was interesting is that only a few people noticed the buttons. One person mentioned that they noticed it and said they didn’t think they felt would do it only for comfort level but not because of likability. I think if I did that with the red shirt it would have been too much however. Also, although the same shirt, if you see when I switch from light to dark gray, the fit of the shirt is different. Then there is the picture of the female wearing black and white. Her body changed substantial. Thank you for your comment.

    • @nancyimperial-osuna2042 says:

Renesance Man BTW. Great improvement on your videos from day one. I’m very proud of you

    • @Mensdivorcecoach says:

Aww thank you. I was telling that to the person that showed me how to edit. It’s not like “hey, I can edit now” it’s more like a slow change. It’s not like swimming where you say “I learned to swim” but rather HMM, what a difference. You just start paying attention to details that I never would have a while ago.

  • @juancarlosalvarado3904 says:

    Great episode!

    • @Mensdivorcecoach says:

Thanks JC. Did you notice the buttons? Many didn’t. I wanted to see if I can get away with it when I wear the more likable colors.

    • @juancarlosalvarado3904 says:

      @@Mensdivorcecoach …no buttons

  • @Billwilderment says:

Awesome video! I certainly noticed every button as I am always cognitive of my level of buttons! more open when I am in casual settings. Great work and editing the colors!

    • @Mensdivorcecoach says:

Thank you Bill. I was surprised at how easy it was to edit the colors. Curious, when I did that with the low buttons what was my likability? I’m wondering if it would be different if it was the red shirt.

    • @Billwilderment says:

@@Mensdivorcecoach I always found my sweet spot was 2 buttons, when I was in exquisite shape I would sometimes go three.. The overall feedback then was more buttons undone were offputting to people, in photographs they are great however. More women thought of me as a “Player” when I wore 3 or more. They never directly connected the dots, but that is the only time they ever said something. So awesome you conducted this experiment, I was very conscious of it 15 years ago or so in my early 30’s.

  • @deenadanielle says:

It’s part of the first impression people have about you! The way you dress is important.

    • @Mensdivorcecoach says:

So very true. I never knew the extent of how much color mattered until my first video. Did you notice the buttoning of the shirts?

  • @TheRealEstateInformant says:

Very interesting video! Thank you for sharing.

    • @Mensdivorcecoach says:

Thank you my friend. Since you’re in sales, I’m curious, what color would you wear?

  • @GeoffreySetiawan says:

Simply yet complex – black all the way 🙂 I have this black long sleeve tee I wear on a daily basis, and my viewers and clients have really associated me with that. ha

    • @Mensdivorcecoach says:

HAHA. Love it. I’ve heard of you through the Youtube community. You have a terrific reputation. Flattered that you commented and follow. Our lives are extremely different as we come from two polar opposite ends of the spectrum. You help people stay in their marriage and I help those pick up after their marriage. I’m inviting you to drop your link here and wont see it as spam. I think every marriage is worth fighting for until it’s not. 🙂

As an introvert creating a YT channel where people are looking at me, this video leaves me with food for thought about what I am going to choose to wear on my channel. Thanks, this video is great!

    • @Mensdivorcecoach says:

Just saw a couple of your videos. I left a comment on one of them. Appreciate what you said about choice in color. As mentioned on this video, I knew the effects of color but NEVER how much people responded to it. My first video has the longest retention rate and interestingly, on this one, the ending where I get red I don’t get the decrease in retention one usually gets toward the end. Question, what color do you plan on wearing on your channel? Yours in particular seems to be most susceptible to what you wear.

    • @GemaJuco says:

@@Mensdivorcecoach I do like to wear my chef jacket in the kitchen just because I am a baker and I’ve worked in a commercial kitchen etc. But when i set up my table which is the most exciting I do plan to use clothes that compliments my table?? The first 2mnths on yt has been overwhelming so my outfit choices was not my priority and yet I feel that it will be an important part of my video creating in the future.

Such an entertaining video!! So engaging all the way through. Job well done

    • @Mensdivorcecoach says:

I love making fashion videos and it’s interesting that the ones I made almost two years ago are starting to get watched. As a divorce coach I challenge my clients to wear color and stay away from black when necessary. Just lazy and unimaginative. Thank you for your comment.

  • @ieatgrass101 says:

    What about purple?

  • @Ab.eNormal says:

Very informative! You did miss my favorite color green, though. I was made aware that it is more difficult color for most people to wear.

    • @Mensdivorcecoach says:

You’re correct I missed green but purposely because of the green screen. I wear green quite often. I know you can also use a blue screen but I wear a lot of blue and then I’d really disapear. My thumbnail “Why Dating After Divorce is much easier than you think” I’m wearing green but I can’t wear green in a video for the reason stated earlier.
