I appreciate the intention, but this does not feel like good advice. Confidence comes through acceptance, letting yourself celebrate your strengths and learning to forgive yourself for your weaknesses. Having hobbies is a great way to make experiences to bond with potential partners over, and build self-confidence by achieving personal goals. But only when partnered with time and mental space for feeling your feelings.

Filling your time so that you can’t get stuck in your thoughts is like throwing a blanket over mold. The problem will still get worse, it will just be out of sight and will be even more difficult to truly fix the problem down the line. The real kicker is just because you are ignoring your feelings doesn’t mean they aren’t impacting you. Research shows our brains process emotions even when trying not to, and avoiding conscious feeling of an emotion will lead to the insecurity leaking into almost literally every aspect of your life. I can vouch from firsthand experience.
