    I agree! The movie was a romanticized version of DV. Oddly, the aftermath and fallout between the actors is a truer representation of narcissistic/ DV abuse than the movie. It’s chaotic, nasty, and unrelenting: it never becomes civil between ex partners. If you’re interested, the Maid is an exceptional example movie depicting the complexities of escaping DV. I find if a person has not lived through it, it’s extremely hard to comprehend that it’s not just a matter of walking out the door.

      I agree with you. I often recommend Maid to my clients. It’s much more realistic.

      ⁠@@VictoriaMcCooeyThere are so many examples of DV in the true crime genre, but I don’t think people want to see it. It’s still a taboo subject that no one wants to think about until it touches them or someone they care about. Don’t you think young people need to learn the dangers of toxic relationships before they’re in them? I think it should be required course work for preteens. ❤
