I “must” have Respect, then Like and Love will follow.
Uh huh, but is it actually respect or is it just obedience? That just sounds like it’s a trade, like “They need to seek my approval and earn it by obeying me and being whatever I want them to be, and when I’ve decided that they’re good enough, I will reward them with affection.”
It skips over mutual attraction, compatibiliy and actually enjoying each other’s company. Love isn’t a set of rules the other person should follow in order to _deserve_ love, that kind of transactional nonsense is why religion exists!
