You can’t change the past, it’s learning & growing from it that counts. That a former partner, relatives or others crossed boundaries severely and naming it as such, doesn’t mean you’re not taking responsibility for healing, recovery and learning new relationship skills.

There are a handful of reasons that it could be true, but they should never present it that way. Everything should be taken in a responsible manner of that you chose to walk into that commitment and it ended badly, but you did the very best that you could there are things like criminal activity, weapons, threats, harming children all of these things can abruptly in a marriage. As long as they still continue to talk in a compassionate way about this individual wishing that it could’ve gone differently and that they’re willing to learn from their mistakes that got them into the situation. I think it’s fine, but it does happen with only a very select view of circumstances.
