Exposing why narcissists chase get-rich-quick scams

Narcissistic people are especially drawn to get-rich-quick schemes—but why? In this video, Dr. Ramani unpacks the grandiosity, entitlement, and financial delusion driving these risky obsessions. I had a friend of 8 years who am I now believe is a malignant narcissist or possibly sociopath or even worse a psychopath!! She took in a young girl to live with her because her mother was always traveling for work obviously charged her for room and board and food and then basically gaslighted the child into thinking her mother was no good! That went on for about 2 years Of course she also had her doing all of the household chores without the bio mother’s knowledge! She then went on to become an RN worked for a visiting nurse service and then claimed to suffer a mini stroke on the job later revealing to me she brought on herself on purpose so she could collect unemployment through the company she worked for which was almost as much as she was being paid! She even tried to involve me asking me to buy her adult diapers for a home visit from the agency , they conducted to make sure it wasn’t fraudulent! That was when I finally realized who she was after she had done some horrendous things to me as well!I found your channel resulting in me going no contact with her❤

Thank you for sharing this. That sounds like a malignant narcissist/psychopath/sociopath to me. Definitely dark tetrad.

    • @Monipenny1000 says:

This sounds like my sister, exact same story except she “sat in a chair that broke from under her while at work at the hospital” she only worked there a very short time, 2 weeks at most, and quit her job, so she could sue them.

  • @CoffeenSpice says:

Convincing especially for people with low esteem who do not believe in their own thoughts and beliefs 😢

  • @soniagutierrez3411 says:

This sounds just like my ex-husband. He always tried to make easy money, and every time it didn’t work out I had to pay the psychological consequences.

    • @Just-a-Girl-7 says:

I went through this but it escalated to violence. In the end he beat me up after I wouldn’t give him more money. He lied and said that I stole the money so that no one would know that he lost it on the market after I advised him that I didn’t think it was a good idea to do it. There was always a sense of entitlement that he shouldn’t have to work. 13:15 After all my experiences with my ex husband including the previous paragraph there’ll never be any chance of reconciliation. I’ve been divorced for 8 years now and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life.

  • @IFS2023 says:

Wealth is power, to a narcissist this is everything.

  • @JanetMitchell-y8i says:

A little different but delusional. The ex-narc always said that he could have been a surgeon because he has no problem with blood and guts. I think there is a little more involved than gutting a deer.🤣🙃

  • @costelloandlizzievolk2233 says:

This reminds me of a narcissistic ex, he always had some idea to get rich that I tried to be supportive of, yet he didn’t do much with it and couldn’t hold onto a job or money as he spent it all on gambling, pot and alcohol. I ended up being the one who worked more and took care of him only to be abused and traumatized by him. Thankfully I got away. Never again. So grateful for this community. ❤

  • @leighhamrick says:

My jaw dropped at the title. My husband is a narcissist and he falls for EVERYTHING.

  • @nopereradicator says:

    They’re incredibly lazy.

  • @lynnebucher6537 says:

This explains why my dad chased so many investment schemes that promised big returns. He got scammed more often than he profited.

  • @moniquejackson7741 says:

Wow. I’ve never thought of this, but it explains so much growing up in an extended narcissistic family. Cheating the system and get-rich-quick schemes were so common in my family that I can now see where I learned my own interest in lotteries and MLMs, etc. One of my uncles recycled cans for extra money, and he would put a small stone in each crushed can to cheat the scales and get a few extra cents per pound. Cheating the system was normal and expected in my family, and many were harmed while they wasted their time and money.

  • @IAmNumber4000 says:

They think they’re too smart to be scammed, making them a PRIME target.

  • @jeremylawson6648 says:

My narc ex business partner refused to get a day-job to float himself while we were building an operation so I was funding the whole thing & working while he felt like he didn’t shouldn’t have to even tho he had kids.

he once said to me “someone inboxed me yesterday asking my why i’m not a millionaire yet” i’m like huh?! you don’t work hard enough to make real money wtf.

wildly entitled esp to everyone else’s property/ money.

He ran up a massive tab with me & when it came time pay me back it became a war.

  • @LC-1748 says:

It’s because they always assume they are the smartest person in the room. 🙄 No one can trick them! 😏😂

  • @floridanurse4901 says:

Thank you so much! My soon to be ex and ex father in law are both narcissistic and had soon many failed get rich quick schemes!

  • @mydogsareneat says:

My sister LITERALLY did the travel blog thing. And my parents openly acknowledged she was living there dream.

Same person who set me up to get bullied for my entire adolescence.

My brain injuries a gift from god in there eyes.

  • @janettemartin4604 says:

YEAH my EX thought I was a GET RICH QUICK SCHEME!

  • @AnnaG199 says:

Thank you, Dr. Ramani. I wish I had seen your videos a few years earlier — trusting someone else’s idea can turn out to be a very expensive mistake.

  • @ScienceDruid says:

    “I am such a good vacation-taker!” 😂 Pegged it.

  • @bobspamail says:

My ex wife was susceptible to get-rich-quick schemes. I thought it was just her. I learned something new today. Thank you Dr Ramani.
