What Is Reverse Gaslighting?

What is reverse gaslighting — and why can it be even more confusing than traditional gaslighting? It’s not just about being told you’re wrong, but being told you’re both wrong and right at the same time. That contradiction can leave you questioning everything, including yourself. In this video, we break down this manipulative pattern and why it’s so destabilizing.

Lawyers judge, doctors should get education on narcissistic abuse

  • @pengguoyu4614 says:

Narcissists are amazing at performative empathy but never real emotional and compassionate empathy

  • @1948rambo says:

Anger is good… it reveals a problem

  • @pengguoyu4614 says:

Narcissists always gaslight to protect their fragile egos then play the victim darvo

  • @pengguoyu4614 says:

    Emotional bullying

  • @Lizzy-ow5ww says:

I had this happen in a friendship. The person would tear me down about whatever was bothering them and then extol all of my virtues. Total and complete WTF moments. Interestingly, I set a boundary with this person (for the first time in 50 years) and they unfriended me. I think I won that one.😊

    • @merhona3472 says:

Always difficult to realise that the people who you trusted and cared for, secretly disliked and wanted to harm your spirit and mind. But you did yourself a great healing. Like whales having the barnacles removes and suddenly you enjoy your own skin.

    • @poppyalameda9968 says:

      Bravo!

    • @kerryridgway484 says:

Yes yes yes you did!!!! I did the same thing with a friend and she accused my husband of holding me hostage!!!! We laughed!

  • @pengguoyu4614 says:

When dealing with a gaslighter narcissist the deep technique arises don’t defend don’t engage don’t explain don’t personalize

  • @autiejedi5857 says:

My ex did this when I left. Years of gaslighting and then tried to get me back by saying I was a great partner, but I threw it back by asking why he would want such an awful person in his life. He stuttered and backtracked and then got angry. Touche!

    • @aoajnw says:

Oh no here I go getting triggered .. ahhhhhhhhhhh

    • @Factification-o3f says:

On the other hand abusers also use this line because they don’t understand that intermittent reinforcement is a thing. You can be a great person and be an abuser.

    • @Path-Wisdom says:

Ha yes mine told everyone how amazing I was, that we were soul-friends. So if I said anything about his chaos, it would still look like he was a good guy 🤪 that’s when I recognised the 👿 greatest con is convincing you he doesn’t exit!

  • @marysisak2359 says:

I have experienced this type of gaslighting. We want you back in the fold but…. It is all about control.

  • @rubberbiscuit99 says:

It seems like this kind of funhouse mirror feedback, in which everything is distorted, is meant to induce a trauma bond. It’s destabilizing.

  • @IndigoBeulah says:

It’s crazy making for someone who isn’t familiar with narcissistic behavior. Grown up mean girls (and boys) are the worst. Seeing people for who they are is priceless. Thank you for your education, as always! (the gift that these creeps give us is the growth and even sovereign stance we have gained after the pain. Priceless.)

  • @hungarianmermaid says:

I had a grandma who would constantly comment on my weight when I visited. It made me stop wanting to go to her place. Then she tried to lure me to go see her again by telling me that she had cake or pie. 😑

    • @TesseractDome says:

      ick! That’s diabolical.

    • @Motorhead-q9x says:

hungarianmermaid: It’s like the evil witch in the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (way before you were born), luring the children in with sweets only to imprison them. It’s sick, and real.

  • @BookofOurs says:

Imagine this happening in childhood, consistently.

  • @Robin50ist says:

This is like the flattery, praise, etc. followed by “but….”

  • @Stinkbug08 says:

“Pick a lane, and GO TO HELL! And DOUBLE GO TO HELL!” ❤❤❤

  • @jackiey168 says:

Actually telling me im great but accused me of things i never did

  • @pdxtom says:

I had an abusive manipulative father who fit the profile of a malignant narcissist.
The amazing thing was that despite every family member having sufferred his abuse including gaslighting, character assassination & other forms of cruelty they all still believed he was ultimately a great guy.
It was not until he passed away and we began sharing stories that my siblings began to realize that he really was a disturbed and cruel individual.

  • @dianetaylor6751 says:

It’s the kiss on the cheek and the slap in the face scheme. Or maybe in your case maybe a slap in the face and a kiss on the cheek. Run!!!!!!!

  • @jacksavage279 says:

This happened to me, and the Lord came to my defense and granted me the victory in that situation at my old job. God is good , no weapon formed against me shall prosper. 🙏🏿🙌🏿

  • @lovenicky714 says:

“A compliment from a narcissistic person is dangerous.” Yes! Preach, Dr. Ramani!
