THIS is how narcissists WEAR YOU DOWN
Have you ever felt completely drained after spending time with a narcissistic person, even if nothing obviously “happened”? In narcissistic relationships, there is a quiet survival strategy many people use without even realizing it. In this video, we’ll explore why these relationships can leave you tense, exhausted, and disconnected from yourself—and why your body may understand the dynamic before your mind can fully name it.

Yeah, that’s how it was around my father. You had to not only be careful what you say but HOW you said it. You had to even watch how you MOVED around him. Plus, you had to be careful how you responded to the verbal bombs he would throw out. One slip and he’d lose his sh*t. He was ALWAYS looking for a fight and, sometimes, he would even get triggered by us NOT fighting with him. So glad when he died.
I was shocked when near the end of my mother’s life she actually said “I like to fight.” I wish she had told be that decades before when I was a child and I felt it was my responsibility to referee those fights.
Don’t blame you for feeling that way.
Agree all the same for me. The day he died all I felt was relief zero tears and zero fks given and never went to his funeral as I would have pissed on his grave. No respect no love just relief the garbage died.
@MojoVoodoo 👍well said
Just looking for an opponent
Walking on eggshells also applies to dealing with Bipolar people. Been there!
Very true!!
Avoidance silence and isolation was the only way I could deal with him until it ended
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t! They aren’t happy with you and they aren’t happy without you.
In reality they are deeply unhappy with their self, and are projecting how they feel onto those close to them.
With the right people you can’t do false things, fake things
Even if your mind doesn’t realise the stress and tiredness, your body will not hide it no matter what you do.
Yes, and eventually, the emotional and psychological toll manifests as a physical disease. Chronic autoimmune disease in my case.
@59tdargrt…. It’s interesting that you mentioned that. While I was dealing with a Narcissist person, my hands broke out with a skin problem and after I got away from the person who was admitted to a nursing home, my hands cleared up. I finally put two & two together.
Not always a disease, I will not take that, however I do have temporary chronic pain
They will make up things to blame you for.
Made myself smaller
Very helpful Dr. Ramani, thank you 🙏🏻 So much of what you described became a constant in my long term relationship, especially the self-silencing, self-abandonment and hyper vigilance. Of course, walking on egg shells too! I found it interesting to hear you struggled with chronic migraines…4 months after I moved in with my now ex partner, I began having chronic migraines. It went on for years. They seemed to slowly disappear after we no longer lived together and ended the relationship. Fascinating!
I say let them wear themselves out trying, I’ll be laughing. Hopefully people can see the cycle they are in
When you spend enough time with narcisists, the walking on eggshells becomes your lifestyle and that takes a tremendous toll on you. Your body knows before your brain does.
I am making progress from having ptsd and mood swings due to narcissistic abuse. I have been told by my abuser that he walks on eggshells. I looked at him and said, “I have been walking on broken glass.” He had no reply. Healing like never before. I will thrive. Thank you for the education and support.😊
You will absolutely thrive ❤ As someone 6 years removed from my abuser I can attest that life gets better in ways you won’t expect. Its a very slow process at first, but worth it. I’m glad you are healing.
Amazing video, I’m retired at 47, went from Grace to Grace. This video here reminds me of my transformation from a nobody to a good home, honest wife, 35k biweekly, and a good daughter full of love❣️
Congratulations! The Scriptures clearly state that there will be a transfer of wealth from the pagans to the righteous. May God continue to bless you.
But how do you earn so much in a month? Would you mind sharing?
It is simply the digital market. That’s been the secret to this wealth transfer. A lot of folks in the US amd abroad are getting so much from it, God has been good to my household Thank you Jesus Christ

While they are in the middle of a rant, pick a location on the wall and stare at it without emotion
Grey rocking! 👍🏾👍🏾
10:30 timestamp pay attention to how your body feels when you are NOT around the person who makes you walk on eggshells. This is such a great point. People need t identify what it means to feel healthy and safe
give yourself the gift of no contact today
Such a good way to put it
The walking on eggshells becomes the new normal and it isn’t until you walk away and look back that you realize how toxic and far down they had dragged you.
Facts. I’m learning this now, since I’ve gone grey rock and severely restricted contact. It’s liberating.
Walking on eggshells what a terrible life
I had my best friend visit for 2 days. Easy, simple, no conflict, no weirdness, no questiony situations. It was what I call normal, respectful, fun, trust. When she left, I had only warm, fuzzy, memorable feelings. I felt true JOY. I did not later have “post experience feelings” that come to me after a seemingly nice visit with a ‘question mark’ person. The question mark: could be toxic, unhealthy, narcissistic, unknown, distrusting…just leaves me uncertain and i may not know exactly why. (people, family i’ve had distrust at least 3x with- fall into this category).
I don’t want to live with my covert narcissistic mother. Now when i have started noticing she continuously criticises me does negative comments, keeps talking about other people negatively. Now i can see how much negativity she is in and she doesn’t wants to come out of it. I want to cut this toxic hope that i can make her normal. I have to leave this place. The whole family is narcissistic siblings parents.but i have so much hope and trust that this will end and i will be free.
I am 56 and raised by 2 narcissistic parents. The toll it takes on our physical and emotional health is criminal.
